This week on "Rebel Hearts": Kristie talks with Mariel Hemingway, Academy Award nominated actress, and the grand-daughter of Ernest Hemingway. Mariel is also a bestselling author and a sought after speaker; she is an eco activist, healthy lifestyle and mental health advocate, a yoga video star, and entrepreneur. Her film "Running from Crazy", produced with Oprah Winfrey, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2014.Having had seven suicides in her immediate family as well as depression and alcohol addiction, Mariel shares in this interview how the stigma of mental illness has haunted her since early childhood. Even at a young age she decided that she would find a way to overcome that pattern in her family and she started searching for solutions. That search led her to a dedicated yoga practice and becoming an advocate for mental health. She talks about what habits she has implemented in her (daily) life style in order to create mindfulness, and she shares with us some of her "Mariel practices" for a balanced life.Mariel encourages us to look at our life, to crank it open as this is where positive change starts. She empowers us that whatever we are seeking is available for us; it is not just for a few, but each and very single one of us has the capacity to create a life filled with miracles.Mariel's message is that we have the power to do anything that we want in our life!
